An excellent anti-corrosive, metallic zinc rich, two pack epoxy primer. Can be used under many conventional and two pack top coats. The high zinc content provides a good degree of cathodic protection and durability. Suitable for use on ferrous metal surfaces. Contains 90% metallic zinc in the dried film. Good surface preparation is essential and ideally steelwork should be shot blasted to Sa2½ standard. Supplied in two parts, base component & curing agent. Conforms to BS 4652:1995

Pack Size: 4 litres composite units (base component - 3 litres in 5 litres tin + curing agent - 1 litre in 1 litre tin) Drying Time @ 20ºC: Do not apply when ambient temperature falls below 5ºC or relative humidity exceeds 90%.

Pot Life @ 20ºC:: 8 hours when mixed. The times stated show effective life, however, material stays liquid much longer but does not perform satisfactorily. Do not use after stated times. The pot life will be significantly reduced where the mixed paint is used at higher ambient temperatures.
Directions for Use: The surface to be coated should be prepared either by shot blasting to Swedish Standard SA 2½ or mechanical wire brushing to remove millscale and other contaminants. This primer must be applied direct to metal for the cathodic protection to work.
The type 15 base and 15 curing agent should be well mixed together in the proportion of 3 parts base to 1part curing agent by volume. Only sufficient material should be mixed to meet immediate requirements as the mixture has a limited pot life of 8 hours, depending on temperature and humidity. If the mixture is kept for longer periods, excessive thickening occurs which cannot be corrected, even by the addition of thinners.
Re-coating should be done ideally after 24 hours. It can be done between 6 hours and up to 7 days of application of the first coat. After this time inter coat adhesion may be adversely affected.
