High build two pack epoxy micaceous iron oxide paint with excellent anti corrosive properties due to the laminar structure of MIO and a metallic lustre finish
A two pack, cold cured, high build epoxy intermediate coat or finish containing micaceous iron oxide. The platelet type structure of micaceous iron oxide produce a shield or barrier that helps protect the ingress of moisture and has therefore good anti corrosive properties.
For application to suitably prepared steelwork, giving good anti-corrosive properties in polluted environments. The high build properties of this material permit dry film thicknesses of up to 100 microns to be applied in a single coat.
Good anti corrosive properties
Can be used as an intermediate coat or finish
excellent barrier properties on exposed steelwork

Pot Life @ 20ºC: 8 hours when mixed. The times stated show effective life, however, material stays liquid much longer but does not perform satisfactorily. Do not use after stated times. The pot life will be significantly reduced where the mixed paint is used at higher ambient temperatures.
Directions for Use: Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry and free from dust, grease, millscale, etc.
Surfaces should preferably be shot blasted to Swedish standard Sa2½ then coated within 4 hours for optimum performance.
The type 76 base and 76 curing agent should be well mixed together in the proportion of 4 - of base to 1 - of curing agent by volume. Blend the curing agent with the base paint and mix for 5 minutes with a spatula or low speed power mixer. Leave for 5 minutes once mixed before application by brush or spray. For further information refer to the Technical Information Sheet on the downloads section for this product.
Only sufficient material should be mixed to meet immediate requirements as the mixture has a limited pot life of 8 hours, depending on temperature and humidity. Pot life can be significantly reduced in high ambient temperatures.
For galvanised or non-ferrous metals, we recommend the use of
a suitable etch primer such as Firwood 90 Rapid Dry Chromate Free Etch Primer.
Cleaning: Clean application equipment immediately after use with Firwood 67 Thinners
