When a major electronics company needed to refurbish a factory floor, they turned to the experienced team at Firwood Paints to offer a practical solution. The warehouse floor had been painted previously, but many years of friction and daily-service meant that there was a desperate need for a complete refurbishment of the floor in question. The final finish would need to be hardwearing and feature reliable anti-slip properties.
Firwood's High-Quality Floor Paints And Applicators
Firwood has a reputation for providing only the very best products, and so the project required a variety of our unique products to ensure the highest-quality finished product. Along with some of our
industrial floor paints
, the company required our team to supply application equipment as well.
The products in question included:
• Firwood 2709 Concrete Etching Fluid;
• Firwood 2218 Deep Fill Epoxy Repair Mortar;
• Firwood 2700 Two-Pack Water Borne Epoxy Floor Seal In Mid-Grey;
• Jumbo Double Arm Roller Kits;
A Complete Warehouse Floor Refurbishment
The warehouse's floor had been previously painted many years beforehand, but it was in extremely poor condition. Our expert team recommended the complete removal of this layer prior to repainting as it was in extremely poor condition. Suitable plant was hired in order to quickly remove the previous flooring paint and create a blank canvas for the high-quality industrial floor paints to create the highest-quality finished product.
Repairing Damage To The Factory Floor
The concrete floor itself was damaged after many years' heavy usage, and it was clear that this needed repairing before it could be repainted. Holes and cracks in the concrete were repaired using
Firwood 2218 Deep Fill Epoxy Repair Mortar*
This quick-drying epoxy mortar is designed exactly for this purpose, and to provide a smooth surface for the application of floor paint. It is suitable for use in practically all kinds of areas, including industrial zones where heavy fork-lift trucks are used on a regular basis.
Next, the surface needed to be cleared of dust, dirt, grease, oil and the various other contaminants which threatened the quality of the finished product.
Firwood 2709 Concrete Etching Fluid
was used to remove the fine surface laitance which was evident on the floor from when the concrete was first laid. Had we failed to remove the laitance, then it is almost a certainty that the high-quality industrial paint that we provided would have failed too.
Although this project did not require it, if laitance is heavily present then we recommend the blasting or, in extreme circumstances, the grinding of cement flooring. Not only will these help to remove the laitance, it also provides a great key for the floor paint to take hold.
Treating The Warehouse Floor
Thanks to its anti-slip properties, excellent resistance to chemicals, water, oil and grease as well as its hard-wearing nature against all kinds of mechanical abrasions, we selected
Firwood 2700 Two Pack Epoxy Floor Seal
for the entire floor. To ensure the very best quality of finished product, we also ensured that the paint was applied using Jumbo Rollers supplied by Firwood
The finished result, as you can see, is a high-gloss floor seal, which is prepared for many years' of heavy-duty use!
