Firwood are pleased to be associated with a recent project to refurbish the swimming pool and diving areas of the Grade II Listed Crystal Palace Swimming Pool. This famous swimming pool forms part of the National Sports Centre which includes the 15,000 seat capacity athletics track used for national and international events.

A failure to identify the environmental impacts of any business will lead to increased costs, a poor public image and possible legislative issues. With this in mind Firwood Paints have implemented an Environmental Management System which has been certified to the ISO 14001 International Standard.

Customer satisfaction survey |

Customer satisfaction surveys are one of the core metrics used at Firwood Paints to ensure we meet the demands of our customers and continue to offer first class service.
Our spring 2009 survey was recently completed and measured customer satisfaction in 12 key areas. Questions included such topics as product quality, delivery service, technical support and customer service.Over 100 customers were invited to take part in the survey and as in previous years we received very positive feedback.

As part of Firwood's policy on sustainable development we have been identifying opportunities to eliminate where possible the use of hazardous materials. The use of lead in paints has been a controversial subject over recent years and Firwood has now removed all lead based products from their product range.

The REACH Regulations (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals.) are now well upon us and we are receiving regular requests from customers for information on this subject.
As a downstream user of chemicals Firwood Paints have not had to directly pre register any chemicals under this legislation.

Climbing high with Firwood |

Blagdon Pump is a manufacturer of Air Operated Double Diaphragm (AODD) Pumps. The company was founded in the early 1950's and started life as a small engineering workshop supplying goods to the local coal fields.
Since then the company has expanded its facilities in the North East of England and is now part of the IDEX Corporation.

Water borne paint brings wooden floors to life |

Floor seals give good performance at the theatre |

Two of Firwood's water borne floor seals were recently used as part of the maintenance of wooden floors in Sale, Greater Manchester.
Firaqua 2550 and Firaqua 2530 were chosen by Cofathec Sale PFI Ltd to help restore and protect several wooden floors in properties they own and maintain. These properties include council buildings and the Waterside Arts Centre.

In December 1941, locomotive number 21C6 rolled out of Eastleigh Works in Hampshire, the latest locomotive to be built by the Southern Railway. She was the latest example of a revolutionary new design of steam locomotive,
each example being named after a shipping company serving the South Coast ports. No.21C6 was named after the most famous of all: Peninsular & Oriental S.N.Co (the modern day P&O).
